Spring Street Getting 24-Story Tower Across From Another Planned 24-Story Tower

Developer Holland Partners is all over this little corner of the Historic Core near the Fashion District lately. Late last year, they threw down $12.5 million for a parking lot on Eighth and Spring where they plan to build a 24-story, mixed-use tower with apartments and retail. Now, right across the street, they've bought another parking lot and plan to put up another 24-story tower, says Urbanize LA.

Like the previously announced project across the street, this tower would combine residential (308 apartments) with groundfloor retail space (7,200 square feet of it). No word about parking or anything else about the project is available yet.

The Historic Core is poised to get quite a few new, tall projects, but Spring Street in particular is heating up. Further up Spring, just north of Seventh Street, another parking lot will eventually be giving way to a skinny, 28-story hotel, and just south of Sixth Street, the long-anticipated 40-story project from developer Joseph Hellen will bring not just a huge, wavy building to the street, but also remodels to three Broadway theaters that could really use it (the Roxie, Cameo, and Arcade).
