EXPO-2 Test Train Crossing Centinella and into Santa Monica. The First time an Electric Passenger Train has Been on this...

The process of building and testing the Expo Line's second phase—the one that will go from Culver City to downtown Santa Monica—has been watched with bated breath. We've now seen trains move along the Westside (mostly for tests to make sure everything's working solidly), but until now, we've never seen them entering Santa Monica—that's practically the sea! This image, posted on the Facebook page of the Expo enthusiasts at Hello Expo, shows an Expo car being towed over Centinela Avenue, into official Santa Monica territory. A train getting pulled across the tracks might not seem like much, but Hello Expo points out that the trip marks "The First time an Electric Passenger Train has Been on this Right of Way in over 60 Years." It's going to be happening multiple times a day in the not-so-distant future; this extension of the Expo Line should be opening up sometime in the first half of next year.
