Take a Tour Through the Majorly Overhauled Future of the Westfield Century City Mall

New, 51 comments

Work has only barely begun on the $800-million remodel of the Westfield Century City shopping center, but you can tour the space now (minus all that expensive shopping) via a new video on Westfield's official site, which guides viewers through all the new features the Century City retail complex will have once construction wraps up in 2017.

One of the most high-profile new elements of the mall will be an outdoor event area ("The Terrace"), which the video suggests will be hosting a lot of fashion shows. There'll also be 70 new shops and restaurants, eight acres of outdoor space, and 4,700 parking spaces (double the current total). Overall, the new addition will add 422,000 square feet to Westfield Century City; when complete, the mall will take up 1.2 million square feet.

There were once plans for a 39-story, 262-unit residential building next door to the mall, but Westfield has scaled those way back—Urbanize LA says that an official site for the project notes that an adjacent "15-story, 20-unit residential tower" is still in the works.
