The lovely red brick exterior of the former Case Hotel building at 11th and Broadway has been destined to house a boutique hotel since trendy Kor Group, along with developers Frank Stork and Channing Henry, bought the building in late 2013. It was suspected that designer and former Top Design judge Kelly Wearstler might have something to do with the future hotel—she happens to be married to Kor Group's Brad Korzen—but it's official now, says the Hollywood Reporter. The new hotel will launch as a Proper-branded one (a newish concept from Korzen) with interiors by Wearstler. *Update 4:58 p.m.: A rep from Omgivning got in touch to say that they're the architects for the new Proper Hotel.
Proper is "a new luxury boutique hotel concept" that Korzen just launched at the beginning of this year, but already has a solid list of locations, including one at the new Columbia Square complex. Together, the married pair was the brains behind the hot Viceroy hotel chain, so this new place is almost definitely going to be an extension of the high-end slickness of Broadway as it is north of Olympic—where the Rialto Theatre has an Urban Outfitters inside it, and where the United Artists Theatre and Ace Hotel act as cool-magnets.
