Silicon Valley Creator Mike Judge Takes a Big Loss On His Modern Ranch in Malibu

New, 8 comments

In 2007, before his wildly successful HBO show Silicon Valley, but after King of the Hill (and waaaay after Beavis & Butt-Head), Mike Judge and his wife bought this 1977 Craftsmany/Modernish Ranch house in Malibu. The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house was remodeled in 2002, Variety says, but only the master bathroom and the kitchen really look any fancier for it. Surrounding the residence are a guesthouse, tennis court, and pool; the property sits on more than an acre of land and comes with beach rights to Little Dume. But even all that did not make it an easy sell. Redfin shows it listed back in 2013 at $5.3 million and was pricechopped down to $4.5 million in March this year. It finally sold last week for $4.3 million—about $600,000 less than the $4.919 million Judge paid for the residence. Variety says it went to "an obviously wealthy financier and his wife," which means it could very well be headed for Teardown Town.
