What $1,950 Rents You in Los Angeles Right Now

New, 5 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,950.

↑ The hardwood floors and sweet kitchen pass-through of this dashing little one-bedroom in West Hollywood give it that special extra something that makes a place home. It'll be totally easy to hide that exposed cord for the stove behind some cheap wire shelving from Ikea—don't even worry. The place comes with in-unit laundry but doesn't seem to have any accommodations for tenants' cars. Rent is $1,900.

↑ Just around the corner from the Venice Canals and less than a half mile from the beach, this bright one-bedroom has that cool, retro exterior and an updated interior that includes fancy counters in the kitchen, wood floors, and what appears to be some not-messing-around, hardy-looking carpet. That low pile is going to last forever. Good thing too, because this place is close to the beach and has an in-complex pool, so it's bound to get a lot of foot traffic from all the friends stopping by. Rent is $1,995.

↑ This two-story, two-bedroom spot in Toluca Lake has two full bathrooms, a dishwasher, a balcony off the living room, and a second balcony upstairs, attached to the master bedroom. There's even a washer and dryer in here! The only thing it doesn't have is upstairs or downstairs neighbors or side-by-side parking (tandem only). Rent is $1,925.

↑ Cats are welcomed with open arms at this one-bedroom on the Mar Vista/Sawtelle line. The upper unit features a balcony, granite counters, a dishwasher, air-conditioning, one gated parking spot, and a communal pool. On-site laundry is the clincher. Rent is $1,850.

↑ What this cozy two-bedroom lacks in curb appeal, it more than makes up for in location—right up the street from the reservoir in Silver Lake. The 600-square-foot, upstairs apartment comes with wall-mounted air conditioning, wood and tile floors, no shared walls with other tenants, and off-street parking for two cars. Rent is $2,000.
