Remember Donald Sterling? He's the explicitly racist asshat who used to own the Clippers before a recording was released last year of him being explcitly racist at his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, and who still owns hundreds of apartment buildings across Los Angeles, at which, lawsuits allege, he has engaged in a lot of explicitly racist landlording. Anyway, that guy's back in the news because his wife Shelly Sterling has been suing Stiviano to give back all the stuff Donald bought her when they were involved. Yesterday, a judge ruled that Stiviano has to turn over "a home worth $1.8 million and more than $800,000 in luxury cars and cash gifts" to the Sterling Family Trust for some reason (Donald has been ousted from the trust). Stiviano plans to appeal, the LA Times reports.
Besides a Bentley, a Range Rover, and a Ferrari, Donald Sterling gave Stiviano a 1929 duplex in Beverly Grove, because, he explained during the trial, "Stiviano was poor and her family was on welfare." And he went on like that, the AP reported at the time: "Noting that Stiviano is part black and Hispanic, he said she illegally got her name inserted into escrow documents by befriending a Hispanic bank employee who added her name to a $1 million check."
Anyway, here's a look at the kind of thing you get when an old racist dude decides he wants to hang around you and act racist—Sterling paid $1,779,375 for the building in December 2013 and it comes with two units, both three-bedroom and two-bathroom.
