One defense you almost never hear for low-rise Los Angeles is that a corporate sponsor can put up 27 sets of spotlights running the length of the basin and it actually looks pretty cool across the whole city. Try that in the New York. For less than two hours on Friday night, LA Marathon sponsor Asics shone 124 spotlights into the sky, lighting the path of the marathon from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica. It was neat. People took good photos. Here are the coolest, with stops Downtown, at Griffith Observatory, and Playa Vista:
