What $1,850 Rents You in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,850.

↑ Everything's been remodeled in this Mar Vista one-bedroom, from the carpet to the wood floors. The new kitchen has stainless steel appliances and a dishwasher, which is always a bonus, and there's on-site laundry and plenty of storage space to put those clean clothes and linens. The unit comes with one gated parking space and is cat-friendly. Rent is $1,875.

↑ Step inside this Mt. Washington one-bedroom and instantly "feel like you just landed in Morocco or in Spain," or at least feel like you're reading a coffee table book about those places. There doesn't seem to be any special parking for tenants, but the unit does have in-unit laundry facilities, so that's one less trip you have to take. Rent is $1,860.

↑ This two-bedroom duplex unit is tucked into the back of a small complex in Van Nuys. It just got new heat and air conditioning (which you'll need this summer wherever you are in LA), and all new fancy subway tile in the bathtub enclosure. Why yes, those are quartz counters in the kitchen—thanks for noticing. Rent is $1,850.

↑ Front unit means sunshine all the time, so expect plenty of natural light in this two-bedroom in Palms. The apartment is roomy at 950 square feet and has cool louver windows in many of the rooms. The unit comes with one parking spot. Rent is $1,750.

↑ There's a lot going on in this one-bedroom in Beverly Hills and we like it all. Those built-ins, the moldings, the curved windows, and those gleaming hardwood floors kind of make up for the small bathroom and less-than-exciting bedroom. Rent is $1,900.
