Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $2,150.

↑ Location, location, location is what this one-bedroom in the Financial District is all about. Big old windows, high ceilings, wood floors, an open kitchen, central air conditioning, in-unit laundry, and one reserved parking space elevate this apartment to dreamboat status. Rent is $2,100.

↑ Located within walking distance of the Third Street Promenade, this first floor one-bedroom comes with all the appliances, wood floors, on-site laundry, and new granite countertops. The catch seems to be that there's no parking, but what do you want for this much in Santa Monica? Rent is $2,175.

↑ A whole darn house! This two-bedroom, 1,300-square-foot gem in Lincoln Heights brings plenty to the table, including a "bonus room, original built-ins, detached garage, laundry area with washer/dryer hookups, 1.5 bathrooms, front porch, back patio and super large kitchen." Boom! There's also a parking space beside the house and a detached garage. The backyard's not the most shady, picturesque space but it could definitely accommodate a housewarming party. Rent is $2,195.

↑ Get a load of that natural light. This two-bedroom in Palms is more than just a light-filled pretty face. It's got all the practical amenities one might need, like two parking spaces, a dishwasher, and two full bathrooms. Cats are welcome. The rent is $2,195.

↑ There are a lot of opportunities for contemplation in this three-bedroom Leimert Park house—there's the fireplace-adjacent seating, the bay window—and the carefully crafted details are pretty charming. The house does have a whole lot of carpet throughout, which isn't for everyone, but there's also a dishwasher and what looks like a very recently updated kitchen, and those are universally appealing. With that long driveway, parking doesn't seem to be an issue. The rent is $2,200.
