Los Angeles's relatively new tradition of counting down to the New Year at Downtown's Grand Park among throngs of fellow Angelenos is coming up on its third year tonight, and to keep things fresh, they've upped the ante on the signature 3D projections and pretty flashing light shows that are beamed onto the structures around the park. This year, there will be visuals on the Hall of Records and two sides of City Hall, just like last year, so that the estimated 50,000 attendees can all get a good view; a new addition to the fun is the Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, which will be lit up with flickering rectangles of colored light, like the floor of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" video. Here's a sneak peek of the show. (And here's our complete guide to navigating that enormous party, by the way.)
