Oceanwide Plaza (The Development Formerly Known as Fig Central) is one of a handful of South Park megaprojects springing up around LA Live—it'll come with a mall, a five-star hotel, and residential space all packed into to a trio of high-rises between 40 and 49 stories. A video from the company leasing out the 150,000 square feet of retail space in the new complex (via Urbanize LA) offers a closer look at the shopping gallery and the new public spaces that Oceanwide Plaza will bring with all its buildings.
The retail will be inside a covered, but open-air shopping mall, "which will span the majority of the 4.6-acre property at 1101 S. Flower Street," spread across two levels, and feature a 37,000-square-foot deck over the shops. Also in the works for the ground floor of the Plaza is a collection of pedestrian walkways between Figueroa and Flower.
The $1-billion development will also have two 40-story residential towers and a 49-story tower that altogether will contain both a 183-room, Roberto Cavalli-branded hotel and 504 condos. 32,000 square feet of the place will be wrapped up in a giant LED screen that's sure to blend right in with the bright lights of LA Live just across the street. Oceanwide Plaza is projected to be complete in September 2018.
