New 18-Story Tower Could Be Coming to Sunset in Hollywood

Hollywood's Icon Tower at Sunset Bronson Studios is about to get a lofty companion across the street. Plans for another tall office tower—this one reaching 18 stories—are in the works from the same developers, Hudson Pacific Properties, says Urbanize LA. The Gensler-designed building would offer 274,000 square feet of offices and street-level commercial space across another 26,000 square feet. The retail and parking would be in an eight-story podium, topped with 10 floors for offices. The above-ground parking, plus two levels of underground parking, would have space for 1,118 cars.

Hudson will need several approvals and exemptions to get started on their project, which they could finish in about 27 months once given the green light. Developments nearby, though, have faced enormous opposition and have even inspired a proposed ballot measure that would halt large development across the city. Hollywood's become kind of an unofficial battleground for these anti-development fights, but we'll have to wait and see how much push-back this one faces.
