First Glimpse at the Arty, Mixed-Use Hotel Planned for Hollywood Boulevard

Hollywood's hotel bonanza is still going strong, with a hip, non-exclusive French chain setting up shop and plans to put a 19-story hotel tower on the site of the Jack in the Box by Amoeba Music. This latest proposed hotel, seen in the project's environmental report via Urbanize LA, is headed for a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard between Cherokee and Whitley avenues, right along the Walk of Fame. The hotel will also be bringing retail and an art gallery to the block.

The six-story structure from developers CIM Group will feature as many as 167 rooms (and suites!) over almost 20,000 square feet of street-level commercial space, an approximately 1,600-square-foot "community art gallery," and underground parking for 87 cars and 150 bikes. Renderings from architects Gene Fong Associates also show a pool deck. The project needs to secure a few approvals, but CIM's aiming to begin demolition in February 2016 and complete the project in January 2018.
