TEN50. Named for its address, 1050 South Grand, what was once a non-descript parking lot is part of an epic transformation. The first downtown luxury condominiums built from the ground up in a decade, TEN50 stretches 25 stories high and features 151 residences. The architecture is stunning, with geometric glass cubes randomly stacked against a backdrop of punched windows, commandeering the street corner and turning it into selfie heaven.
The design of the interior rises to that challenge. One-, two-bedroom and penthouse spaces are a modern take on boutique living, with amenity after amenity put to perfect use. Aptly called The Fifty, the 13,000-square-foot private indoor/outdoor lounge, with resort-style pool, makes staycations more than an economic choice.
In the future, there might be other buildings more immense than TEN50. But none will be as thoughtfully designed for those choosing to live in DTLA.
