The Ultimate Silver Lake Post and Beam Wants $6,000 a Month

This mid-century treasure in Silver Lake comes courtesy of Chinese-American architect Eugene Kinn Choy (that's his Cathay Bank building in Chinatown). Completed in 1953, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom post and beam known as the Kawaguchi House has been updated (notice those fancy Kitchen Aid and Thermador appliances in the kitchen), but still has a solid grip on its original charms. The master bedroom has "entire walls devoted to closet space," and a his-and-hers vanity in the master bathroom. The 1,718-square-foot house also has solar panels, for those interested in "conscientious, low-cost living," but who can still afford to fork over $6,000 a month to live in a beautiful, stylish dream home.
