Fly Through All the Construction at USC Village as It Starts Getting Bricky

That inspirational public domain music matched up with drone footage could mean only one thing: it's time to check in on all 207 acres of the upcoming USC Village project! Progress seems to be moving along steadily on the $700-million extension of the USC campus. When completed in 2017, some 2,700 students and loads of retailers—including a just-announced Target—will call the complex home. Several of the five-story residence halls are already showing off their red-brick facades, but that Trader Joe's at Jefferson and Hoover (1:18, on the left) still needs some work. (Where will they put the maddeningly too-small parking lot?) Also notable in this video is the near-complete demolition of the old Los Angeles Fire Department Station No. 15 (0:10 in, middle of the frame). Don't worry, the firefighters have been relocated to some fancy new digs up the street as part of the USC Village master plan.
