South Park Megaproject Metropolis Selling Yet-to-Be-Finished Condos Starting at $555k

With the first condo tower in Downtown LA's Metropolis megaproject already 65 percent sold well before its opening, developers Greenland USA have decided to start selling the condos in the quite-far-from-finished second tower. The 40-story tower will have 514 studio, one-, and two-bedroom units, says a release from Greenland, plus a little something special: a one-and-a-half-acre, ninth-level outdoor rec area called Met 9. Available only to residents of the second and third towers, the space will have a "four-lane swimming pool," a field for sports like volleyball and yoga, a dog park, and a kid-focused play space.

In addition to access to that sprawling recreation area above the city, some of the units will also have balconies and terraces. What's it going to cost to live this nice in Downtown's fancy South Park? Right now, the residences range from $555,000 to $2.2 million.

Besides its three residential towers, the billion-dollar Metropolis will also have an 18-story, 350-room Hotel Indigo, which is expected to open at the end of 2016 along with the first tower's residences. (It's supposed to have a speakeasy bar and lots of nods to LA's turn-of-the-century history woven into its decor and design.) The entire Metropolis project will be complete in 2018.
