Show Me a Hero, the upcoming miniseries by The Wire creator David Simon, delves into a contentious desegregation battled that roiled Yonkers, New York. In 1985, a federal court determined that the city had deliberately engaged in race-based segregation of housing and schools for some 40 years, and ordered that 200 units of subsidized housing be built in a middle-class, primarily white part of Yonkers.
