Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for around a certain dollar amount in various Los Angeles neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with listings for today's price: $1,000.
↑ Bad news: this Hollywood apartment is a studio. Good news: it has a walk-in closet, which is kind of like a bedroom, right? The apartment's full kitchen has what looks like a decent amount of cupboard space and, though not featured in the photos, there is a full bath and on-site laundry, too. The only downside is that there's only street parking available. Rent is $1,045.
↑ This one bedroom in Sun Valley offers little description other than that it has in-unit laundry, but aren't the plentiful pictures worth a lot of words or something? There's clearly a stove, a full bathroom, and some ceiling fans. Not bad for $995.
↑ "Bachelor apartment" is usually code for "doesn't have a real kitchen," and that appears to be the case here. This spacious Leimert Park studio in a gated complex does come with laminate wood floors, plenty of closet space, a full bathroom with cute tile, and a private garage. Rent is $895.
↑ "Newly remodeled," declares the entire description for this one-bedroom in Boyle Heights, just up the street from Mariachi Plaza. What else would anyone need to know? The 600-square-foot space has nice, newly painted built-ins and heating where there was once a fireplace from the looks of it. Rent is $950.
↑ Lots of light in this upper floor studio in Westlake. The unit just got new double-paned windows, bathroom tile, and kitchen countertops. The gated building bundles utilities in with the rent and has a laundry room too. Rent is $980.
