Question: "Where else can you find a gas station that was designed by nightclub gurus?" Answer: Probably nowhere. That's right, this is a 76 gas station that's had a full-on facelift courtesy of H.Wood Group's John Terzian and design firm Built Inc. (both of hotspots Bootsy Bellows and Shorebar) to make it into "a throwback to the golden age of gas station-turned-roadside service bars" with a little nautical nod, according to a statement from Built Inc. Outside, there are shingles and white wood along the building; inside, gray paneling, vintage photos, tiled backsplashes, fancy restrooms, andn a "tobacco bar." The gas station's owner, who belongs to the private Shorebar, hoped the makeover would give his business an edge over the competition and is now working with the same team on an Arco on Cloverfield near the 10 Freeway in Santa Monica.
