Colorfully Awful 1929 Castle in Glendale Asking $1.3 Million

New, 31 comments

This 1929 house in Glendale's Glenoaks Canyon, billing itself as a "whimsical interpretation of an Old World European Castle," is just full of surprises. For example: the entryway is the color and apparent texture of a popular holiday dessert made of green Jell-o. Surprise! Every room of the house is (sponge?-)painted a different color. Surprise! The house is a spacious 4,611 square feet, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms (including one "opulent marble & Travertine" master bathroom), and an outdoor patio and terrace area. According to Redfin, the castle last sold in 2011 for $600,000—that seems generous, considering how ramshackle it looked back then. Still, its new asking price of $1.269 million seems bold.
