What $1,500 Can Rent You in Los Angeles Right Now

New, 16 comments

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for around a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,500.

↑ One indoor cat's welcome in this Fairfax apartment, but absolutely no dogs. None. The one-bedroom has a cute bathroom with tilework reminiscent of lemon meringue pie, two ceiling fans, an updated kitchen, and built-in cabinets all over the place. There's also air conditioning. The corner unit comes with one covered, reserved parking space and has laundry on-site. The rent will set you back $1,495 a month.

↑ This two-bedroom condo in Van Nuys has two gated parking spaces, one bathroom, vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace, a balcony, and a walk-in in the master suite. It's not a huge place—just 913 square feet— but it's nice for the price: just $1,500 a month.

↑ Alright, so this two-bedroom front unit doesn't have fancy granite countertops or a pool, but it is just up the street from the Forum in Inglewood, and across from a cemetery, so those neighbors won't be too rowdy. It has a private parking spot and a storage unit at your disposal. The rent's $1,495.

↑ This is no ordinary one-bedroom in Los Feliz; it's a "rad blank canvas waiting for your touch." Pergo floors and on-site coin laundry are great, but you're going to have to pay monthly if you want to use the fridge that's already in the unit. Boo! The rent is $1,465.

↑ This upstairs corner unit comes with a stove, a fridge, on-site laundry, and air conditioning. We're also into that tree out front; with the bench underneath it, it looks like a set for a 1940s musical. The one-bedroom in Sawtelle also comes with garage parking--always a nice feature. The rent is $1,550.
