Pricey, Boring Homes Headed to Fairfax/Sawyer in Mid-City

The destiny of the ten-acre site on which the historic KHJ AM radio towers once stood has been revealed. "America's largest new home builder" D.R. Horton recently broke ground on land at Sawyer and Fairfax that will become a 60-lot housing tract full of what look like your basic, run-of-the-mill SoCal house—except these are expected to start at about $1.2 million, reports Building LA. *Update 5:21 pm: The homes in the project were originally "designed/planned" by Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderberg Architects, but this latest iteration's not theirs, says a rep for VTBS. The houses come in models named "Monterrey," "Spanish Colonial," and "Spanish Revival" that all look the same from these renderings. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The houses will all be two-stories tall, have either three or four bedrooms, and total between 2,590 and 2,900 square feet. KHJ AM station was a station that was at the top of its game in the Sixties. The towers came down in the spring of 2013 in the most unceremonious way possible.
