Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for around a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,795.
↑ Los Angeles's median rent is presently $1,795 and, in honor of that, we've selected five apartments renting right around that number. The first is this two-bedroom condo. It comes with central air, a dishwasher, a balcony, and assigned parking—plus, it's located in "One of Culver City's most popular condo complexes." It's yours for $1,800 a month.
↑ Look at that lofted bedroom. This Westwood studio is way better at maximizing space than any loft bed could ever be. All utilities are included in the rent and there's a walk-in closet. All that and parking for $1,700.
↑ Two bedrooms and two bathrooms in this roomy 1,147-square-foot unit in Montecito Heights, plus in-unit washer and dryer? Check. Assigned parking? Check. Both air conditioning and a fireplace? Double check. The rent is $1,795.
↑ Need something more centrally located? How about this two-bedroom in East Hollywood? The listing is sort of secretive, but it does mention wood floors and air conditioning. Not a peep about parking, but the apartment is close to the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station, so if you are sans car, this might be a good spot. Rent is $1,750.
↑ 700 square feet isn't bad for a studio and this one in Atwater Village comes with in-unit laundry and new appliances. It's got a balcony too! However, there's no mention of parking. Weigh that carefully as you prepare to fork over $1,870 a month here.
