Lady scientists are hot right now. LEGO just released its first set featuring female scientists, and Land's End just released science themed shirts for girls after a Facebook campaign noted that science themed shirts were available for boys but not for girls. The description on the home is pretty minimal but a bit of research shows this was the former home of Nina Byers, Ph.D., theoretical physicist, UCLA professor, and founder of a web site documenting important women contributors to the field of physics. Byers passed away in June. As for the house itself, the wooden bridge was added after a request was granted in 2009 for the easement to the property over an LA County Flood Control Channel.
