Rent in Hollywood's Legendary Villa Elaine Complex For $1,550

New, 27 comments

What do Man Ray, Orson Welles, and Frank Sinatra all have in common? At one time or another, they were all residents of Hollywood's Villa Elaine Apartments. Located on Vine Street just south of Fountain, the historic courtyard complex was designed in 1925 by Lewis A. Smith, architect of many local landmarks, including Los Feliz's gorgeous Vista Theatre. A featured location in John Cassavetes's Minnie and Moskowitz, the building currently has a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment available. Per the Craigslist posting, the apartment up for grabs is a two-story unit that features 25-foot ceilings, built-ins, a walk-in closet, wrought-iron detail, a "very large porcelain bathtub," and "antique stove and fridge," but alas, offers no off-street parking. Monthly rent for the cat-friendly unit, including utilities, is $1,550.
