A new solar energy plant in the Mojave Desert that uses concentrated solar rays is somehow causing birds that fly over it to burst into flames. Apparently undaunted by bird murder, the owners of the plant (Google and two energy companies) want to build another, but the US Fish and Wildlife Service would like the state to hold off on permitting a new plant of the same type until a study can be done about the "significant number of birds igniting and falling as they fly above the plant." Good call, guys. [CBSLA]
