It's about time we got a bird's-eye view of the Westside; up until now, drones have mostly captured (incredible, little-seen) views of Downtown and central Los Angeles. Probably because it's not recommended and potentially illegal to fly drones over most parts of the coast and the Santa Monica Mountains. But finally, one brave filmmaker (Chris Hoyle, in a video featured by LA Magazine) has sent his remote-controlled device hovering along PCH in Malibu, skimming the waves and getting some incredible aerial shots. The video is set to music that might normally accompany a slideshow of wedding photos, but perhaps a little drama is called for, considering there aren't many other ways to get a view like this.
