Cornerspotted: the Valley Music Theater in Woodland Hills

New, 7 comments

Hats off to BrianSorensen, the first to correctly guess our melodious Cornerspotter this week: the Valley Music Theater. This photo kicked off some great stories in the comments about the band featured in the photo--the boys were in Dino, Desi, and Billy, as in Dino, the son of Dean Martin, and Desi, the son of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, and their friend Billy. The band was chatting up some ladies in front of the venue in the summer of 1965, just before a concert called Summer A Go-Go, which sounds like a lot of fun, especially if it looked like this on the inside at the time. (Thanks to ostergirl for the link!)

According to SFV Blog, this venue hosted concerts by big-name acts like Ray Charles, the Doors, Buffalo Springfield, Ike & Tina Turner, and Three Dog Night, was sold to the Jehovah's Witnesses, and then got demolished for condos. A pretty lame ending for such an awesome place.

The property is now home to an in-the-works development called The Boulevard.
