Even though they've been taking guests for a few weeks now—Curbed even spent a wild night there—South Park's new Marriott Courtyard/Marriott Residence Inn double hotel officially opened for business today. There was the requisite ribbon cutting for the project, which brings 174 badly-needed hotel rooms (in the Courtyard) and 219 suites (in the extended-stay Residence Inn) to LA Live. Portland, OR developer Williams & Dame bankrolled the $170-million project—with a little tax break help from the city. The shiny new Courtyard rooms offer "hybrid zones" for working, sleeping, relaxing, and getting ready. The lobby features a new restaurant, called Table 901 LA Cafe, and a touch-screen concierge with local information, maps, news, walking directions, and transportation information. Outside, there's a little plaza and a giant LED screen on Olympic Boulevard, broadcasting images of women dancing with ribbons on the beach, among other things.
