Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for around a certain dollar amount in various Los Angeles neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with listings for today's price: $1,800.
↑ Two big bedrooms, hardwood floors, and on-site laundry make this pet-unfriendly Mar Vista apartment quite the find. The only thing that's less than great about the unit (besides the pet thing) is that "garage parking available" sounds a lot like you're going to have to kick in extra for parking. Rent is $1,850 a month.
↑ The complex in which this unit is located comes with an enormous set of amenities (gym! pool! on-site laundry!); the one-bedroom up for rent here has a dishwasher, a fireplace, and either a balcony or a patio (it's hard to tell from the blindingly bright photo, but every apartment has one of those features). Just south of Hollywood Boulevard in the neighborhood of the same name, renting this 785-square-foot unit will run you $1,895.
↑ For the retail lover, there is this attractive one-bedroom "conveniently located near shopping mall, restaurants, park and IN/OUT" in Sherman Oaks. It comes with underground parking, on-site laundry, a balcony, a pool, and a newly remodeled kitchen, in case delicious cheeseburgers from In-N-Out become boring. Rent is $1,800.
↑ Looking to live in a charmingly landscaped mid-century apartment building in Franklin Village? Look no further. A bedroom with a balcony, laminate wood floors (good enough!), and gated parking are all part of the deal with this one-bedroom. Rent is $1,750 a month.
↑ This apartment is more or less on Venice Beach, it comes with a fancy rain showerhead (probably pretty good for getting the sand out), and the rent includes gas, trash, electric, and water. What's the catch? Parking for motorcycles and mopeds only. Rent is $1,800.
