It was only this past February that the Gold Line Construction Authority, which is building the 11.5-mile light rail extension from east Pasadena to Azusa, reported that the project was half complete. Fast-forward six months and the GLCA says the line is now nearly 75 percent done. Wow. Rail and poles now line the 210 Freeway median between the Sierra Madre Villa station and the under-construction Arcadia station. That stop is coming into view now, with landscaping (three Engelmann Oaks) on the way; a 25-foot clocktower is being finished and will be installed next month. The $800-million project remains on budget and construction should wrap in a little over a year. Meanwhile, Mayor Garcetti says he's determined to find money for the unfunded Gold Line extension to Montclair.
