Occidental College is finalizing a deal to manage the city's historic, 117-year-old Lummis Home in Highland Park. The arroyo stone house, built by civic leader/journalist Charles Fletcher Lummis, is in dire need of TLC—the Southern California Historical Society managed the place for years but is letting it go at the end of 2014—and it's hoped Occidental will renovate the home and facilitate tours there.
