Is this the start of a wave of densely-packed little houses in Mid-Wilshire? Only time will tell if this project by veteran tiny-house-makers Modative will be the first of many built under the city's small lot subdivision ordinance, which allows a lot of detached houses on a single lot. The project will bring just seven slim, three-story houses to a vacant dirt lot at the northwestern corner of Rimpau and Wilshire Boulevards, says the Larchmont Buzz.
The houses will have "bronze anodized aluminum windows and guard rails, Oxford White stucco with charcoal gray accents, as well as finished wood and stone work," and will be landscaped with olive trees and raised planters in front. Each house will also have its own roofdeck with greenery.
The project is just across Wilshire from some in-the-works condos, aptly named Wilshire Condominiums, that will bring another 12 new residences to the corner.
Developers have met with the Park Mile Specific Plan's design review board five times in the last five months; recently, plans were submitted to the design review board for final approval. If all goes according to plan, groundbreaking's scheduled for early 2015.
