See the New Art Deco Look For the Financial District Sheraton

New, 11 comments

The $180-million makeover that will turn the Financial District's hulking, impenetrable Macy's mass of brick into a welcoming, open plaza called The Bloc also includes a $45-million makeover of the adjacent Sheraton Hotel. (Prior estimates had placed The Bloc reno at $160 million, the hotel reno at $40 million.) When first announced, the Sheraton's reboot didn't sound too exciting, but now, the Jazz Age has been dragged into it, as you can see from these fresh renderings. According to a press release from the hotel, once finished, all spaces—496 guest rooms and suites, the lobby, meeting rooms, outdoor areas—will appear "inspired by downtown Los Angeles' glamorous and elegant Art Deco architectural past." Guests will be able to check into these glamorous new rooms around mid-2015.
