The Navy's gearing up to take inventory of some ancient cultural assets around its China Lake base in the Kern County desert: petroglyphs in Renegade Canyon, a prehistoric site that's home to "the largest concentration of petroglyphs in the Western Hemisphere." The cataloguing of these early drawings should begin next year, but is expected to take at least a few years to complete. Images will ultimately be posted online for public perusal. [LAT]
