It's not Los Angeles without the jarring image of a Pleistocene-era mammoth dying in a tar pit while her family watches helplessly back on land. But the ancient family was missing for a little while recently, when all three members were reunited briefly for some aesthetic upkeep, reports NBC4. The animal replicas, created by sculptor Howard Ball and installed in 1968, had their tails rebuilt and cracks filled, plus some paint work and anchor restoration for the poor unfortunate female.
