While Germany's pioneering modernist Walter Gropius, who would have turned 131 on Sunday, is best known for founding the Bauhaus school (and "fathering" the dozens of highly influential creatives that sprang from it), Gropius spent a lifetime crafting many more structures that altered the design world.
