South Park Marriotts Open June 1 With Rooms Starting at $289

New, 14 comments

At least three years in the making, the double Marriott tower in South Park opens for business on June 1, reports Downtown News. The 23-story building holds a Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn that will share a lobby facing Francisco Street, and it may just hush the constant "Downtown does not have enough hotel rooms" refrain for a minute with its 392 rooms. Mid-June rates start at about $289 a night at both properties and top out with suites at $400 at the Courtyard and nearly $600 at the Residence Inn.

The $172-million project comes from Portland developers William/Dame and also includes a 1,000-square-foot public plaza, nice new sidewalks and street trees, and a giant LED sign that will blast garish advertising. The project was aided by tens of millions in tax credits, which a future neighbor hotel is now also angling for.
