Two parking lots next to the wholesalers-only LA Mart, including the one with the well-known ginormous chair, are going mixed-use—not too common on this side of the freeway. Citing documents from the city, Building LA says that the company that owns the LA Mart (also known as the Reef Building), Glendale-based PRH LA, is looking to get their general plan amended to fit a proposal to put a still-vague mixed-use project on the two lots, which together make about 7.5 acres (while keeping the LA Mart building). The property, on the border of Downtown and Historic South-Central, is walking distance from the Blue Line's Grand Station.
