A modest, endangered Paul R. Williams house in Brentwood has bought itself some time: the city has given it historical landmark status. The four-bedroom, ranch-style house, celebrated as "a relatively rare example of a smaller home by Williams" and the one-time guest house of Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley, was on a crash course with bulldozers in November when Disney exec Robert Iger intervened and got a stop-work order. Landmarking doesn't completely protect a structure from demolition, but it does mean that there will have to be an "extensive review" before any changes are made. [LAT]
