The Top 20 US Cities Feeding Los Angeles's Population Boom

New, 21 comments

Los Angeles is growing, a lot, but where (in the US) are all the people coming from? A new infographic by Spokeo (via LAist) pinpoints Nevada and Arizona as the biggest sources of new Angelenos. The graphic was created, however, pretty creepily: "By identifying the origin of a mobile number and matching it to address records, Spokeo has pinpointed migration and settlement trends throughout the United States." (Meaning this graphic represents out-of-state mobile numbers tied to local addresses.) They used the same methods to snoop on the cities that feed into LA's resident pool and found three Nevada towns topping the list, followed by Chicago, New York, and Brooklyn, leading us to believe that these moves are strongly motivated by the weather.
