FAIRFAX: The guys behind The Golden State burger restaurant and Bludso's Bar & Que on La Brea are opening an upscale coffee joint just a few doors down from TGS. Replacing a kosher market, Cofax will serve Stumptown beans prepared in a fancy coffee machine painted blue and white to honor their beloved Dodgers. Opening mid-May.
ARTS DISTRICT: Tyler Wells of Handsome Coffee has teamed up with the founders of Wurstküche for a 240-square-foot coffee hideaway called Blacktop, now open. The beans are as high-end as you'd imagine and the minimalist design by Kellie Patry is pretty gorgeous.
DOWNTOWN: Micah Wexler of the late Umamicatessen opens Wexler's deli on April 28 in the updated Grand Central Market. The design looks very sharp and the restaurant will feature all the favorites East Coast transplants love, including lox, tuna salad, and pastrami on rye.
