Over at Gizmodo, Nathan Masters tells the story of the 118-year-old palm tree in Disneyland that pre-dates not just the park, but also the purchase of the land by Walt Disney. Disney personally saw to it that the tree was moved, not axed, when the heavy machinery came in to clear out trees for the Magic Kingdom and, "Though virtually every facet of the park has been renovated and reimagined, the palm still stands in the middle of Disneyland's jungle realm, its fronds shading a FastPass distribution kiosk near the Jungle Cruise ride."
