New, 8 comments

This vermillion villa in Pasadena was designed in 1928 by Beverly Hills architect Robert Finkelhor, whose CV includes Bob Hope's sprawling Toluca Lake estate as well as homes for Barbara Stanwyck, Harpo and Zeppo Marx, and Norma Talmadge. Occupying a 1.31-acre lot adjacent to the Annandale Golf Club, the residence was built around a pool and arched loggia designed by the illustrious Garrett Van Pelt. Per the listing, the 5,041-square-foot house features four bedrooms, five baths, stenciled beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, French doors, lovely period tile, built-ins, a studio with a dark room, a "romantic trellis-covered outdoor dining area with [fireplace] and secret garden," and a three-car garage. Last sold in 1995 for $900,000, it's now asking $2.995 million.
