Mayor Garcetti is still pleading with the US Army Corps of Engineers to reconsider their more modest plan for the restoration of the LA River. The feds are backing a $453-million plan, but Garcetti wrote a letter to the head of the Corps last week agreeing to throw in a full half of the money for the more ambitious, $1-billion plan. A final decision on the revitalization plan won't be made until next year. [LAT]
