First Look at Two New Mixed-Use Towers For Twelfth & Flower

New, 28 comments

Vancouver's Onni Group is going hard in the Downtown game, planning even more skyscrapers in addition to a 32-story tower already underway at 888 Olive. Now we have our first look at one of those proposed developments: two mixed-use towers slated for the parking lot next to an existing five-story office building (to remain untouched) at 1212 Flower Street, a South Park spot that's walking distance to both public transit (Pico Station) and LA Live.

According to a presentation that will be given to the Downtown LA Neighborhood Council tomorrow, the new residential buildings—one with 40 stories, the other with 31 stories—will have 730 condos (a white-hot commodity in Downtown these days), 7,873 square feet of retail (12 spaces), and 843 parking spaces (four floors underground parking, seven floors above-ground in a parking podium), which seems a little excessive considering the transit proximity.

This project will be across the street from another pair of residential skyscrapers, 36 stories each, possibly with a hotel and definitely with retail. Meanwhile, with parking lots disappearing at this rate, Downtowners are eventually going to have to take the train.
