Another snag in the still-unstarted renovation/demolition of Elysian Park's Police Academy: the two bids for the project have come in millions over the $30-million budget. The current building, built back in the seventies and named for the Dragnet actor who funded its construction, has been awaiting a revamp for 20 years; it's attached cafe closed last month. The work's supposed to be done by late summer 2016, but we'll see. [LADN]
