CHINATOWN: Why, yes, this city is crazy enough to have a hot sauce art exhibit. A study on Sriracha and Tapatio—LA Heat: Taste Changing Condiments—is on now at the Chinese-American Museum. The pieces on display look at the "notions of identity, community, and foodways" represented by the red sauces, which both started here.
SANTA MONICA: People are going apeshit over news that San Francisco's Philz Coffee is moving into a 2,000-square-foot space on Santa Monica Boulevard. We don't have an opening date or the actual address, but we know the coffee shop will offer Larder Baking Company pastries and that more LA-area Philz are coming.
ALL OVER: Monday is St. Patrick's Day, which means people are starting to drink right about now (refill that TAP card or download Lyft, guys). Eater has a list of the best boozing specials, including the reinvigorated Tom Bergin's on Fairfax and the King Eddy Saloon, the historic Charles Bukowski haunt in DTLA.
